As many of you know, the Internet and more specifically vertical
marketplaces (such as LabX) have become the first place to look when
you need to procure a piece of equipment.
The online marketplace has replaced all sorts of methods previously
used to find instrumentation. One of the most notable has been the
local directory service, be it from a local trade association,
publication, or the local Yellow Pages directory. However, for many
industries the vertical marketplace has not fulfilled all of the
needs
that local search offers. Despite finding over 150,000 available
products on one site including full descriptions and images, the
vertical marketplace can fall short. This is where local search tools
enable easy product location in relative geographic proximity.
Just last week, LabX launched a new way for local and vertical to
intersect. Using a new map tool incor****ated into the For Sale and
Auction listings, you can see the physical location of an instrument
on a map before you place your bid or make an inquiry. The new map
feature is also fully interactive. It allows you to pan out to see
the
item in proximity to your location, or zoom down to street level
detail. Using this tool along with the displayed zip code and
****pping calculator will enable you to quickly determine total cost
of
acquisition for your new instrument.
