sci.crypt under "hipcrime" attack, "kill" rules

by Francois Grieu <fgrieu@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 12, 2007 at 01:04 PM

Hello,

the sci.crypt newsgroup has been, over the past few months,
under "hipcrime" attack: thousands over thousands nonsensical
computer-generated messages are posted, often impersonating
legitimate contributors, apparently using remotely controlled
machines acting as relays. This has made sci.crypt much less
usable.

I have developped empirical "kill" rules that I try to keep
up-to-date as the perp changes its relays. Others have found
this gives some level of relief (though a few false positives).
My "kill" rules are at
http://fragrieu.free.fr/sci_crypt_kill_rules.txt

Hope this helps,

  Francois Grieu
