II remember this guy.
He played drums with nearly every band in town so he was at every
single open mike.
As I got to know him, I learned he was the hallucinatory one's brothers
best
friend,
and as they got older, they got closer. He lived out at the
mill , where his dad raised him even though he went to
school and worked in Roanoke.
He never performed poetry but adored it.
Some time when I first got to know him, his mother committed suicide on
Halloween. He and his dad became evern closer after that. He and his dad
were constantly in town at shows
All the guys at that point in their late 20s early 30s then became close
so
they always invited
us over their homes, to meet their girlfriends and so on.
They also attended all sorts of performances, whether music
or something more formal. They were very active in the community.
They almost never missed a local music show.
his dad was a banker and then retired early, so he could do
consulting. the guy worked in aluminum in recycling.
Last time I saw him was at a wedding, with his very new and very
pregnant wife.
I would guess he has aged since i last saw him and i bet i would not
recognize him
He was a very slender man, tall and very nice curly hair. Between
blond and brown, blonder in the summer. HE always wore it quite long.
He was also very hyperactive.
He and his father were very nice. They'd always invite you to lunch
or dinner and both show up and treat you like a princess.
I really
wasn't hopeful that any of those guys would show up at Nick's funeral, but
I
was sure that someone of those guys would have mentioned it to the others.
A female friend was convinced that he had a
terrible crush on her.
she used to write to me quite often, interesting beautiful emails.
and then one day it was like she was a different person who didn't
seem to remember any of the things that I remembered her for. she
recently
told me she had a concussion. weird, but you can tell it's changed her.
that you can't fake.
She doesn't really respond to questions so I couldn't figure it out at
first.
I hope it was just a process of change and healing
still it's spooky
I put them back in touch and I hope they are staying in touch
