Heckman 2-step method

by burgerater@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Feb 27, 2007 at 01:55 PM

I've just written a matlab script to perform the Heckman 2-step method
(for models with selection effects) and now wish to verify that my
script is working.

I have a book called 'Econometric Methods with Applications in
Business and Economics' (Heij, de Boer, Hans Franses, Kloek, van
Dijk).

This book contains a Heckman 2-step example (p509-510), but
unfortunately I cannot replicate it using the companion dataset
available from the book's website. I'm pretty sure the datasets do not
match to the printed example & there is no correction on the editor's
website.

I was wondering if anyone had encountered this problem and either:
- Has the correct coefficient and std error estimates that match the
companion dataset; or
- Has the correct dataset that matches the results in the book.

Alternatively, if anyone knows of an alternative resource where I
could obtain a dataset and corresponding Heckman 2-step results to
validate my script, I would appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance,

Sean
