There's little point dreaming of a better world when faced with the
present time reality of imploding climate change. As the dominant
species on planet Earth humanity has just one shot in a shortening
span of time to prevent a climate catastrophe. The climatic situation
of today is clear and simple to understand... either humanity changes
its lifestyle of excessive fossil fuel burning or face the likelihood
of an ecological and civilization collapse.
No species can go against nature. Abuse the planet's environmental
nature and there will always be a climate change pay back. This is the
primary fact for planetary life. The rules of climate engagement are
non-negotiable. If humanity goes against nature there will be severe
climate consequences such as extreme floods and droughts.
The realization that climate change is a clear and present danger is
forcing humanity to look at its inherent relation****p with nature with
a view towards a new understanding of co-existence. The era of bold
and excessive individualism has run its course. The new way for living
in the 21st century is to respect nature interdependently =96 and that
means taking care of all people so that everyone can take care of
themselves, their families and the planet.
Every climate scientist who has studied the weather patterns of the
past 50 years is convinced that we have - at the most - just 10 years
to get the carbon ledger out of the red to prevent environmental
bankruptcy.
The climate regime ****ft has already reached the threshold of
dangerous tipping points. Forget the risk of a much hotter planet. The
climate change crisis is leading towards the greatest mass extinction
of all time with 50 percent of all species facing annihilation when
the severe implosions occur.
And don't think for a moment that climate change is some future
singularity or a climatic event horizon. The signs are clear with the
first tremors of climate change already happening. In the far north
the Arctic is nearing a total summer ice meltdown while at the South
Pole Antarctica - the driest continent on Earth that averages just one
single inch of precipitation each year - is experiencing unheard of
snow blizzards. According to explorer Todd Carmichael this is "akin to
standing in the middle of the Sahara during the dry season and getting
whacked by a torrential downpour."
Human emissions are severely poisoning the biosphere and, as a
species, we are faced with the greatest caveat of all time. Either we
change our ways, and live according to the rules of natural
interdependence, or as a collective species leave behind the legacy of
the great destroyers of a favourable climate.
Modern civilizations have been built on energy derived from coal and
oil. The new era that's being propelled by the advent of imploding
climate change requires a 80 percent transition of all fossil fuels to
clean renewable energy. This transition can't wait for the next
generation or even the next decade. The switch to renewable solar,
wind and wave energy requires the most urgent attention in the entire
history of human civilization. It's never been done before and, as
such, the fight against climate change is the ultimate challenge.
Never before have the stakes been so high. Either the climate change
war is won in the next ten years or the world will be forced to live
with a vicious, uncompromising and unrelenting climate regime.
