Senior Research Scientist
Overview: Conducts research related to semiconductor process gas
purification, focusing on design and development of new materials.
Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and
concepts to potential inventions and products. Maintains substantial
knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and may
contribute to scientific literature and conferences. Participates in
development of patent applications. Works with product management and
customers to appropriately define new technology/product requirements.
May require extensive work in trace impurity analysis in gases using a
variety of techniques. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and
research efforts
Responsibilities: =95 Develop and characterize new materials for gas
purification and related applications. =95 File idea disclosure and work
with patent attorneys to complete patent applications and filings. =95
Involved in new product scale-up, process optimization, technology
transfer, product field analysis, and product validation activities.
Works with various departments to ensure products and designs are
compatible for new product technology transfer. =95 Do***ent work by
recording data in lab notebook, writing internal re****ts, idea
disclosures, and Applications Notes for external customers. =95 Analyze
gases for trace impurities using GC, APIMS, FT-IR and other techniques
=95 Maintain analytical equipment =95 Identify and analyze new
op****tunities and competitive products in contamination control
technology for the semiconductor industry through technical/trade
conferences such as trade shows and other semiconductor affiliations.
=95 May provide educational training on products to customers, sales or
field service personnel.
Qualifications: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Ph.D. degree in chemistry
or closely related field or equivalent experience. Experience in
catalyst synthesis, design and characterization is a plus. Experience
with synthesis in supercritical solvents is also desired.
