An investigation of professionalism and/or honesty of APS members

by khrapko_ri@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Aug 3, 2008 at 02:07 AM

The letter is sent to Arthur Bienenstock, President of APS

Some publications in peer-reviewed journals prove incompleteness of
the standard electrodynamics; namely, an electrodynamics spin was lost
owing to the Lagrange formalism. These publication are:
R. I.Khrapko, "Mechanical stresses produced by a light beam," J.
Modern Optics, 55, 1487-1500 (2008)
R. I. Khrapko, "Does plane wave not carry a spin?" Amer. J. Phys., 69,
405 (2001).
R. I. Khrapko, "Experimental verification of Maxwellian
electrodynamics," Measurement Techniques, 46, No. 4, 317-321 (2003)
R. I. Khrapko, "Classical spin in space with and without torsion,"
Gravitation & Cosmology, 10, No. 1-2, 91-98 (2004)

Results of others works testify to the unrecognized electrodynamics
spin tensor, which provide for the double angular momentum of a
circularly polarized light beam with plane phase front. I analyzed
these works. See, e.g., R. I. Khrapko, "Inevitability of the
electrodynamics' spin tensor" (Inevitability_spin_khrapko_mar07)
www.sciprint.org (2007). These works are:
R. Loudon, "Theory of the forces by Laguerre-Gaussian light beams on
dielectrics." Phys. Rev. A68, 013806 (2003)
N. B. Simpson, K. Dholakia, L. Allen, and M. J. Padgett, "Mechanical
equivalence of spin and orbital angular momentum of light: an optical
spanner," Opt. Lett. 22, 52-54 (1997)
S. Parkin, G. Knoner, T. A. Nieminen, N. R. Heckenberg and H.
Rubinsztein-Dunlop, "Measurement of the total optical angular momentum
transfer in optical tweezers," Optics Express 14 6963 (2006).
A. I. Bishop, T. A. Nieminen, N. R. Heckenberg, and H. Rubinsztein-
Dunlop, "Optical Microrheology Using Rotating Laser-Trapped
Particles." Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 198104 (2004).
V. Garces-Chavez, D. McGloin, M. J. Padgett, W. Dultz, H. Schmitzer,
and K. Dholakia, "Observation of the Transfer of the Local Angular
Momentum Density of a Multiringed Light Beam to an Optically Trapped
Particle," Phys. Rev. Lett., 91, 093602 (2003).
A. T. O=92Neil, I. MacVicar, L. Allen, and M. J. Padgett, "Intrinsic and
Extrinsic Nature of the Orbital Angular Momentum of a light beam,"
Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 053601 (2002).
It is significant that the authors keep silence about the results
during two years. See, e.g., my posts at
http://groups.google.com/group/sci=
..physics.electromag.

Now, apparently, the reality of the spin tensor is out of doubt, and
my aim is to investigate professionalism and/or honesty of members of
APS. So, now I submit the paper "Spin tensor of electromagnetic waves"
to PRL

Dr. Radi I. KhrapkoB. Filevskaja 43 - 92121433 Moscow, RUSSIA Dear
Dr. Khrapko, I have read through your most recent submission AU10290
and compared it with several of your previous submissions LR10182
(Mirror reflecting a circularly polarized plane wave receives spin),
AA10258 (Inevitability of the electrodynamics' spin tensor), and
LR10447(Defects in general field theory). All of these papers have
been previously rejected, and your appeal to a member of the
EditorialBoard was not successful. It is clear that AU10290 is
basically a reworking of this same material, and large sections of it
are essentially identical to the previous work. We are therefore
regarding AU10290 as a repetition of the same material that was
previously rejected, and so we are similarly rejecting it without
further review.
