has been going on since at least 1918, and apparently even before that by
possibly hundreds of years.

Russia needs to get out of Georgia. Georgia needs to get out of Ossetia.
Ossetia needs to be recognized as independent and allowed to choose what
affiliation they might want to have, if any. Same for Abkhazia. If the
US were to stand up for the right of Ossetia to be free and independent,
maybe there would be another friendly or neutral country in the world,
even if the happen to be speakers of the Russian language.
So what was all this crap at the end of your post that came up as mostly a
bunch of question marks?
